The first music instrument that I know is guitar. It's a classic one and it's not even mine. I was taught by my older brother, Ronny Haryanto, at the age of 11 (6th grade of elementary school).
For the first time I had my own band when I was in junior high school, final grade. The members were me (guitar), Loren (vocal), Ivan (drum), and Santer (bass). My first performance was at the school farewell party. After that, we had to reform the members of the band because Santer moved to Bogor, West Java to study his senior high school.
In senior high school, I met Billy (bass) and Didik (keyboard). They're my friends from when I was a little kid. After just one performance at the new year's eve in late 1996, we had to change the formation again because Loren had to move to Ohio to continue her study. This time, we return to the basic one without keyboard. It's a shame that we had to lose Didik because his play is really good and also he had already selected as the leader of student's community (Ketua OSIS) so he's kind of busy. So, the final formation is me (guitar), Ivan (drum), Billy (bass), and Ronny Taufik (vocal), the newcomer. We named ourselves "POLOS", an Indonesian word which means 'plain' or 'innocent'.
Not a lot of events did we perform together. Maybe just about 10 times. Most of them are in our friends' birthday party. We also performed in a festival in 1997. Unfortunately, we have to break the band in early 1999 because we all have to prepare for our final exams.
Since I was in senior high school I also learn how to play drums. The first person who taught me was Ivan. I learn and learn from lots of people and lots of books, and finally I'm able to play drums but not so good though. A lot of drummers have influenced me in my play, but Casiopea's Akira Jimbo and Dave Matthews Band's Carter Beauford are the most.
